Reach

Reach is available only for Instagram, Facebook, VKontakte, and Odnoklassniki, and only for your own accounts.

Depending on the social network, the metrics will differ. Below is a detailed explanation of the Reach tab for each social network.

Instagram

Widgets

In the widgets, you can see various reach metrics, each calculated differently. What does each mean?

  • Post reach – the total reach of all posts (including ads) published during the selected period. You can find this by going to the "Posts" tab and summing the reach of each post.

For example, if 10 posts were published in the account during the selected period, with a total reach of 5,947 users, this reach will be reflected in the weekly reports sent to your email.

  • Stories reach – the total reach of all Stories published during the selected period. You can find this by going to the "Stories" tab and summing the reach of each story.

  • Monthly reach – the unique reach of the entire account over the past month, counting users who interacted with old or new posts, visits, transitions, reposts, Stories, or any content.

The month in the "Monthly Reach" block refers to 28 days back from the end of the selected period. For example, if you select the period from December 1-31, the data in the "Monthly Reach" block will reflect the period from December 4-31.

Both organic and paid reach are included in the monthly reach if applicable. Whether the ad account is connected or not, these data include ad reach.

Regardless of the period selected, the data will always represent the last month, up to the last date of the period, and include both organic and paid reach if applicable.

  • Ad reach – the total reach from all connected ad accounts during the selected period. The data comes from the "Advertising" tab and sums the reach from all added ad accounts. To ensure accurate data for a specific Instagram account, only one ad account connected to the relevant Instagram account should be used.

  • Period comparison – shows the change in reach during the analyzed period compared to the previous period.

How is Post/Story Reach different from Monthly Reach?

  • Post/Story reach – the total reach of posts or Stories. This is not a unique metric. A person can view five posts/Stories in a month, and they will be counted five times.

  • Monthly reach – the unique reach of the entire account, not just posts or Stories. In this case, the person is counted only once.

Reach and Impressions Chart

This chart shows how many Instagram users have seen your account (posts, Stories, etc.) during the specified period. All published posts are considered. For example, a post published in February 2020 can still be viewed in March or April, and these views will be counted in the month the user sees it.

  • Impressions – the total number of views of account content for the selected day.

  • Reach – the number of unique users (both organic and paid) who saw the content for the selected day.

Ad reach is pulled from the ad accounts listed in the "Advertising" tab. On the chart, ad reach is displayed by day, showing the unique ad reach for each day of the selected period.

Instagram provides unique reach only for 1 day, 7 days (week), and 28 days (month). It is not possible to view unique reach for a custom period.

By default, the chart shows daily unique reach. Each point on the chart represents a day. The figure below the chart (total for the period) is the sum of these days, meaning the sum of unique reach for each day. Therefore, the figure below the chart is not unique.

If you choose to display by week, each point on the chart will represent a week, calculated 7 days back from the point. For example:

  • The point on June 15 represents the unique reach for the period June 9-15. The figure below the chart (total for the period) is the sum of weeks, i.e., the sum of unique reaches for each week. The figure below the chart is not unique.

The same applies to months:

  • The point on October 16 represents the unique reach for the period September 19-October 16, and the point on October 15 represents the unique reach for the period September 18-October 15, and so on.

  • The point on October 16 coincides with the "Monthly Reach" block, as the month in the "Monthly Reach" block is 28 days back from the last date of the selected period.

The figure below the chart (total for the period) is also the sum of unique reaches over the month, or 28 days. The figure below the chart is not unique.

Profile Visits

This shows the number of unique users who viewed the account’s main page.

Each point on the chart represents the number of unique users who viewed the account’s main page. This refers only to users who, after seeing your post/story/Direct message, went to your profile to check out something, like reading your bio or posts.

Each point represents a day. The figure below the chart (total for the period) is the sum of these days. The period can be selected in the upper right corner.

Views and Reach Charts

These charts show the reach and views of posts published during the analyzed period. Here you can see the detailed total reach of posts published during the analyzed period: ad reach (if the post was promoted), organic reach, and average daily reach for the analyzed period.

Facebook

Widgets

Facebook’s reach widgets are almost identical to those for Instagram. The only difference is that, instead of "Stories Reach," there is "Post Reach (avg)."

  • Post reach – the total reach of posts published during the selected period.

  • Post reach (avg) – the average reach of posts published during the selected period.

  • Monthly reach – the unique reach of the entire account over the past month, counting users who interacted with old or new posts, visits, transitions, reposts, Stories, or any content.

The month in the "Monthly Reach" block is 28 days back from the end of the selected period.

For example, if you choose the period from December 1-31, the data in the "Monthly Reach" block will reflect the period from December 4-31.

Both organic and paid reach are included in the monthly reach if applicable.

Regardless of the selected period, the data will be for the last month, ending on the last date of the period, and include both organic and paid reach.

  • Ad reach – ad reach data is pulled directly from Facebook.

  • Period comparison – shows the change in reach for the analyzed period compared to the previous period.

Reach and Impressions Chart

Visually, this chart is identical to Instagram’s version:

  • Impressions – the number of times any content from or about your page appeared on a screen.

  • Reach – the number of people who saw any content from or about your page on their screen.

Each point represents a day. The figure below the chart (total for the period) is the sum of these days. You can change the display to Days, Weeks, or Months by clicking the green button in the upper right corner of the chart.

Reach Chart

Here, reach is divided into Paid, Organic, and Viral:

  • Paid reach – unique users who saw the page/posts via internal Facebook ads.

  • Organic reach – unique users who saw the page/posts via unpaid distribution (including viral reach).

  • Viral reach – unique users who saw the page/posts due to reposts, likes, or following the page.

The sum of these reaches will be higher than the unique daily reach, as one user can be counted in each group.

Views and Reach Charts

Like Instagram, these charts show views and reach of posts published during the selected period.

When hovering over a bar, the set of metrics expands:

  • Viral reach – unique users who saw the page/posts due to reposts, likes, or following the page.

  • Other reach – the reach of posts not related to followers. This includes those who aren’t following the group, viral reach, etc.

  • Total reach – the total reach of posts for the selected period (e.g., June on the screenshot).

  • Ad reach – data is pulled directly from Facebook.
